Proton Satria Neo: the lowdown
The new incarnation of Proton’s Satria has made its way into British showrooms. Still keen (and rightly so) to boost its street cred, Proton is making a song and dance about its ownership of Lotus by claiming that the Satria Neo is layered with Hethel know-how, design and inspiration. Those expecting Elise-style handling and Esprit-like power might be touch on the disappointed side, though…
There’s no doubt that the Satria Neo is a sharper-looking car than its predecessor.
BMW M650d & M750d on the way
BMW are planning to offer the new tri-turbo diesel from the new M550d in the 6 Series and new 7 Series. Paris launch likely. The BMW M Division range of cars – the power of ‘M’ with the frugality of diesel – officially arrived at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, offering performance almost on a par with BMW’s M cars but with the joy of frugality when you aren’t in the mood to drive like your hair’s on fire.
Honda's press conference at last week's press conference was full of the usual marketing messages about sales figures, new models and company strategies but the thing that caught our magpie-like eyes was this joyful little video. The cheeky vector graphics feature 19 of the company's concept cars from the last 20 years, starting with the 1994 FSR right up to the NSX via such wonderful oddities as the Kiwami and P-Nut, all accompanied by a bouncy score.
It reminded us all why this is a brand that has always stood out as individual and creative even if the last few years have been a little sparse.
